Bloggers doing their bit for charity

Last year I was most impressed to see that one of my new blogging friends, Gary from The Mexile, was doing a really noble thing for charity.

Not only was he climbing a mountain in Mexico and asking for sponsors; he was also blogging about it and monetising that blog through paid posts and advertising.  And the most noble thing about it?  He donated all of the money raised to charity.

So imagine how please I am to see that Gary is doing it again this year.  He is going to run the Mexico City Marathon 2009 and you can read all about it at his blog (click on the link above).

Once again, Gary is looking fro sponsors and you can donate no mtter how small your contribution is.  If you don't have cash to spare though, you can still contribute to the cause by clicking on either two of these links below and visiting his blog.  This will increase the page rank of the blog which will in turn increase the advertising revenue and the quality of the ads:

  6. A great thing to do. I am so much more inclined to support this than the celebrities who climbed Kilimanjaro, and then chartered a flight home!

When you have a moment Emm, could you let me know how to hide the full length of your blogroll they way you have? I have two (postcards and others) and they are becoming far longer than I would like.

  7. @ MT: Cool - I look forward to reading about it!

@ Sheila: Oh yes! I much prefer it when "real" people do this kind of thing.

If you are using blogger's blog roll widget (as opposed to the link list) then you can select how many you want to show. The option screen would look like this picture and where I have selected 5 blogs to show, you would select how ever many you want. I select mine too show in order of last updated.
