Celebrating Summer in England

Families relax by the side of a river in England in summertime. The sun is shining and many relax in the shade of trees

Summer is truly spectacular in England this year. We've had weeks of hot, dry weather and it looks to continue well into August. We've been out and about a lot and the time has finally come for our short trip to Paris. See you on the other side!

The spire of a church is visible surrounded by trees. In the background, the sky is a bright blue

Photos are of the Eynsford Riverside on a hot summer day and the nearby St Martin's Church.

  1. I'm so glad you are having a real summer in England this year! Not so great for the farmers as I hear it has been really dry since spring. Have a wonderful time in Paris!

    1. Definitely not good for farmers! But it has been lovely. Paris was 41.5°c at its hottest!

  2. Have I heard it correctly that you're in your 3rd heatwave of the summer thus far, Mandy? If so, as it is here also in the Netherlands, I fear for what the rest of the summer will be like, weatherwise! I know a lot of people LOVE the heat, but I am not one of them. (sigh) However, I'm sure you'll soon tell us what Paris was like, so I wait with bated breath. :)

    1. Ha! To be honest, I did not realise that there were separate heatwaves - it feels like it's been hot for months

It is nice and cloudy today with temps expected to reduce to 12°c this week. I like the heat but I appreciate a break too.

It reached 41.5°c in Paris last week!

  3. my brother and sister in law were in Italy and they experienced 39degC. even here in Singapore it is about 32, so it feels like the climate is really all over the place. i like your scene of the folks outdoors in the shade.
